Conquistando Escalones makes a payment of € 17,303 to continue the research of the department of genetics at the University of Valencia

The team led by Dr. Rubén Artero, of the department of genetics of the University of Valencia, is one of the research groups that seek to achieve a cure for our Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F. In coordination with the rest, it is one of the first groups that formed the medical alliance that works on our disease and those that could provide a palliative that helps us improve the quality of life until the final cure comes.

For the FIFTH time since we started, we have renewed the agreement, making a payment of € 14,300 + VAT (€ 17,303), which will cover the next months of work that is vital not to stop. In recent months we have continued to deepen the knowledge about our disease, the processes involved and the development of tests in cell cultures, while the drug traces have already begun in the drosophila models characterized with our disease. While they are still looking for the best models for once they find a treatment that is more effective. New and previously unexplored pathways are also opening that are opening hopeful ways of studying the rest of the symptoms and causes of the disease.

Relying on advances for the coming months although aware that the times of science are not as fast as we all would like, although necessary, we want to thank again the entire team of Dr. Rubén Artero, especially the pre-doc responsible daily to work directly in our disease, Águeda Blázquez and the rest of the team of the department of genetics of the University of Valencia, for all their work and dedication inside and outside the laboratory, attending events that we organize and collaborating on a personal level in the initiatives that we launched .

Thanks also to all the partners of Conquistando Escalones, donors, collaborators and everyone who attends our events, for helping us raise funds and pay for research.
