‘El torneo de su vida’, the book that will raise funds for medical research, gets more than € 6,000 in Verkami

The children’s and youth book ‘El torneo de su vida’ (The tournament of his life) achieved in Verkami more than the goal it had set for herself. Specifically, the goal that was proposed was € 4,500, but finally “we have reached € 6,088, which is 135% of the goal we had set for ourselves,” explains the president of the Association and author of the book, Abrahán Guirao.

In order for ‘El torneo de su vida’ to become a reality, Guirao, thanked the “111 patrons who have made it possible”. It is worth highlighting the companies and entities that have participated to be sponsors, such as the Vila-real City Council; the City Council of La Vilajoiosa; Canseco Ceramics; Mavic Engineering; Aluframe Aluminum and PVC Carpentry; Multiópticas Ibarra; Els Flamencs Grocs; IMK Internet Marketing; Novatègia; Discesur; Optic Tárrega 40; One digital image; Vilareal Veterinary; Fisioteràpia i Podologia A&A; Al d’Emilio Restaurant; CASDA – Castellón Citizen Association Against AIDS; Calcsicova Federation; Canós Impressors; Castellón FSF bison; EB Construction and Health and Força al Canut.

But, this is not the only joy that ‘El torneo de su vida’ has given so far, since thanks to this collection, more benefits can be allocated, if possible, to finance medical research that seeks a cure for Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F and HIV. In addition, during the campaign “we were signed by the NPQ Editores publishing house of the Sargantana publishing group, which together with the requests for books in advance, has allowed us to cover the extra impressions that were not contemplated at first,” explains Guirao.

The president advances that now “we are already working” so that it becomes a book for the whole family in which children with disabilities are reflected, that those who do not have disabilities know how to empathize and so that parents understand how to act before this kind of situations. For this reason, there is talk of disability and inclusiveness “without heroics or paternalism,” says Guirao.

It should be noted that, in addition to being printed in Spanish, ‘El torneo de su vida’ will be translated and printed in Valencian, in addition to English, Italian, Friulian, Hungarian and French – versions that will initially be in digital format – and “these translations will be thanks to the selfless work of Cristòfol Tripiana; Elena Archiles from Clap Educació Activa; Jessica Furlan; Alessio Visintin and Lucina Deponte; ARLeF (Agjenzie Regjonâl pe lenghe Furlane); Gabriella Csuhai, Juan Luis Martín, Patrice and Françoise Ablain Duédal ”. However, it is very likely that it will expand to more languages.
