The hit Intocables play arrives in Vila-real by Conquistando Escalones

The Conquistando Escalones Association inaugurates the year 2020 with a great event to forcefully start the objective of raising funds for medical research of limb-girdle muscular dystrophy 1F and, at the same time, to make a cultural offer for all audiences. Thus, on January 11 at 10:00 p.m., the Rafael Beltrán Municipal Music Auditorium will host the work ‘Intocables’, the Spanish stage version of the famous and award-winning French film Intouchables by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano, adapted by Garbi Losada and José Antonio Vitoria.

Untouchables, after weeks of successful representation at the Reina Victoria Theater in Madrid, begins a tour that will stop in Vila-real thanks to the Conquistando Escalones Association, something that “would have been impossible without the sponsorship and support of the José Soriano Foundation”, indicates the president of the Conquistando Escalones Association, Abrahán Guirao. In addition, “we also want to thank the Vila-real City Council and the Mediolanum Bank.”

This play full of hope, humor and faith in the human being is starring the televisions Roberto Álvarez, Jimmy Roca, Begoña Maestre and Iker Lastra. “Tickets are now available on the Servientradas website and the Nu de Vila-real restaurant. The donation is € 20 and at the box office they will cost € 25, ”explains Guirao.

Untouchables is another of the initiatives carried out by the Association in order to raise funds to finance research to find a cure for the genetic and degenerative muscular disease Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F, suffered by members of Conquistando Escalones. “All the projects make us excited, but this more if possible because from the beginning there has been a willingness by all the parties involved and because the story it tells deals with issues that are binding with many of the members of Conquistando Escalones,” says the president. “We must raise € 200,000 every year to finance the research lines that seek a cure for our disease. Therefore, we cannot afford to stop organizing events, activities or different initiatives that raise funds but, in addition, serve to promote culture, ”recalls Guirao.

About Intocables

It is a moving, hopeful and funny story based on a true story, collected in the autobiographical work Le Second Souffle by Philippe Pozzo di Borgo. A wealthy aristocrat who became quadriplegic after a paragliding accident. Tired of caregivers who treat him with mercy or condescension, what he likes about him, on the contrary, is that he sees that he has no compassion for him. These memories narrate his experience after the accident and the relationship he has with a man completely different from him, Abdel Yasmin Sellou, a young Algerian from the suburbs, who becomes his caretaker. Together they will mix Vivaldi and rap music, elegant speech and street jargon, expensive suits and sweatpants. Two worlds that collide to finally understand each other.

What is Conquistando Escalones?

The Conquistando Escalones Association forms a family that suffers, for more than 8 generations, a unique genetic mutation in the world makes them sick but in turn, scientists have proven that it makes them immune to HIV.
