The French Association of Muscular Dystrophy (AFM-Telethon) provides € 50,000 for the research project of our illness by Prof. Giovanna Cenacchi

It is a moment of joy for us and we want to share it with all those who support us and help us day after day.

The project entitled “Morphofunctional characterization of transportin 3 (TNPO3) in the pathogenesis of muscular dystrophy of waist 1F” coordinated by Professor Giovanna Cenacchi has been funded in the field of Grant for Trampoline projects of AFM-Telethon (French Association of Muscular Dystrophy) with 50,000 euros, which will cover the costs of this important part of the research during a whole year. With this project, an attempt will be made to define the pathogenic mechanisms of the mutation in Transportina3. Our joy does not derive solely from the fact of having received this funding that allows us, on the one hand, to have more time to raise the funds that we need annually to carry out the research on the Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F (which we remember are close to 200,000 € to cover all ongoing research), but also because we see that our efforts, not only economic, and those of the entire research team coordinated by Prof. Cenacchi are rewarded.

After the first results obtained with the project financed directly by the Conquistando Escalones Association, which we expect to see published in the coming months, several hypotheses have been opened and need to be deepened with more studies. The funding received will allow Prof. Cenacchi to continue in this direction, but unfortunately, as we know well about our skin, the times of the research are never short and the funds necessary to carry it forward are always many.

For this we thank you in advance for continuing to support us and helping us to maintain hope for a better future.
