The III International Congress on Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F will take place in Madrid

A little more than 4 years ago, the Conquistando Escalones Association was created, uniting the same family in the search for the disease they suffer (Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F) for more than 8 generations and joining forces to achieve progress in research, after  arouse the interest of the world scientific community after discovering that the genetic mutation that causes it made patients immune to HIV.  Currently there are 7 Spanish and Italian research groups who work in a coordinated way to achieve a cure for myopathy, in the way of also, in turn, helping a new treatment for the millions who suffer from AIDS.  They also do it in coordination with institutes and laboratories in 5 other countries.
 On September 22, 2017, the first meeting of the researchers in the same enclave took place in Valencia, for, although they are in contact, to share, in person, the progress achieved and the future paths to be addressed, something  which was repeated on September 26, 2018 in Venice (Italy).  On September 24, the ‘III International Congress on Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy Type 1F, with representation and exhibition of the progress of the 7 will take place on one of the campuses of the Carlos III Health Institute of Madrid (Spain).  Invited research groups, as well as some of the others involved along with invited experts in the field of neuromuscular diseases and genetic editing.
 The congress is organized by the AIDS Immunopathology Unit of the Carlos III Health Institute together with the Conquistando Escalones Association and its program and assistants can be seen in the attached image.
