A little more than 3 years ago the Conquistando Escalones Association was created, uniting the same family in the search of the disease that it suffers (Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F) for more than 8 generations and join forces to achieve progress in the investigations, after to arouse the interest of the world scientific community after discovering that the genetic mutation that causes it made the affected immune to HIV. Currently there are 7 research groups that work in a coordinated way to achieve a cure for this myopathy, on the way to also, in turn, help a new treatment for millions who suffer from AIDS.
On September 22, 2017, the first meeting of the researchers in the same enclave took place in Valencia (Spain), so that, although they are in contact, they can put in common, in person, the progress made and the future ways to approach it. On September 26, within the VI edition of the ‘Neuromuscular Days’, will take place in the San Camillo Venezia Lido Hospital (Italy), the ‘II International Congress on Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy Type 1F’, with representation and exhibition of advances of the 7 research groups cited, as well as international experts in the field of neuromuscular diseases.
The congress is organized by the Fondazione Ospedale San Camillo together with the Conquistando Escalones Association. You can download the complete program in THIS LINK.
