The research of the LGMD1F in the III National Congress of Young Researchers in Biomedicine
From April 24 to 26, the III National Congress of Young Researchers in Biomedicine took place at the Príncipe Felipe Research Center in Valencia. In representation of the research that is being carried out of the disease LGMD1F (Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F) in the laboratory of Translational Genomics of the University of Valencia, the pre-doctoral student Águeda Blázquez Bernal attended the congress.
This congress, made by and for young people, has been passed in its third edition, fulfilling its objective of «facilitating the debate on the development of the research profession, promoting the scientific career and spreading the importance of scientific culture in society». The symposium brought together researchers of high national and international prestige such as Ana Lluch and Borja Ibáñez, among others, and more than 200 researchers from all over Spain, thus being a great opportunity to open the doors to collaborations between different projects.
During the congress, Águeda Blázquez Bernal presented a poster about the development of a model of the disease LGMD1F in Drosophila melanogaster, which was selected as a finalist among the 130 posters presented in total. The personal goal was to continue contributing a bit to the dissemination of LGMD1F, giving voice and vision to this ultra rare disease of which there is barely any information, and exchanging knowledge and ideas that will help in its investigation.
