Les Alqueries City Council acquires 50 copies of “The tournament of your life” to distribute them at your school

The Alqueries City Council, through the Department of Education, will distribute a total of 50 copies in Valencian of “The tournament of his life” to send them to the CEIP Pintor Sorolla.

The President of the Association, Abrahán Guirao, thanked “enormously” for this gesture since it has achieved a double objective. On the one hand, from the City Council “they have helped us so that the message of inclusiveness and friendship that is transmitted in this story can reach the schoolchildren of les Alqueries” and, on the other hand, “with the purchase of these books we continue to add funds for medical research seeking a cure for our rare disease, Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F-D2 ”. And, Guirao points out that in these times of COVID, with the impossibility of holding events, “raising funds is much more difficult.”

For her part, the Councilor for Education of les Alqueries, Noelia Albalate, has indicated that “we are very happy with the acquisition of this book for school, so our children will know a great story of overcoming. In addition, the book shows the great value of friendship and the importance of inclusiveness in our society. On the other hand, we have collaborated to continue investigating these diseases ”.

It should be remembered that the purchase of these 50 copies by the Town Hall of les Alqueries is in addition to those already acquired by the Vila-real town hall.

In this sense, the president advances that “we are in contact with different towns in Castellón and other provinces.” And it is that, from the Conquistando Escalones Association it is intended that “The tournament of his life” becomes a book for the whole family in which children with disabilities are reflected, that those who do not have disabilities know how to empathize and so that parents understand how to act in such situations. For this reason, there is talk of disability and inclusiveness “without heroics or paternalism,” says Guirao.

In addition, another of the objectives of “The tournament of your life” is one more way to finance medical research that seeks a cure for Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F-D2 and HIV.

The book can be found in the Conquistando Escalones online store as well as in bookstores, Amazon, La Casa del Libro, among others, thanks to the Editorial NPQ of Grupo Editorial Sargantana.
