Conquistando Escalones together with the Spanish Federation of Neuromuscular Diseases (ASEM Federation in spanish), of which our Association is a part, have launched the ‘Capaces15N’ campaign, coinciding with the National Day of these diseases, which is commemorated on November 15th.
The objective of the same, which will be in force throughout the month of November, is to promote the social inclusion of the group and make visible the more than 150 existing neuromuscular pathologies, whose main characteristic is the loss of muscle strength. In addition, the aim is to raise awareness in society so that it understands that “living with a neuromuscular disease does not make you different, but just as capable as any other person to be able to develop your life, despite all the difficulties due to deficiencies in many ways that they make it difficult to do so under equal conditions ”, indicates the president of the Association, Abrahán Guirao.
In addition, the central axis of the claims revolves around the rights of people with this disease and their families. Thus, for example, they demand that rehabilitative therapies be included within the National Health System so that patients with neuromuscular diseases can access them in a comprehensive and continuous way in all Autonomous Communities, as well as promote biomedical research in neuromuscular diseases and advance in the search for a cure for this type of pathologies, among others.
All these claims, and others, will be presented at the institutional act, which will take place online, and which will take place on November 15 at 11:30 a.m. The event will feature the testimonies of three people, one of them the president of Conquistando Escalones, who live with neuromuscular diseases and who will relate their life experiences.
