The return of wrestling to Vila-real leaves almost 2,400 euros for medical research

Last Saturday, June 8, the associations Conquistando Escalones and Tyris Wrestling, with the collaboration of the Vila-real City Council through the Youth Department, made history. After several decades without hosting a wrestling event, better known today as wrestling, Vila-real has hosted an evening in which a dozen wrestlers have fought to raise funds to collaborate with the cause that we promote from Conquistando Escalones. Thus, the “Battle for Science” has raised 2,375 euros that will be allocated to medical research into Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F/D2, a figure that is the result of contributions made by the fan clubs during the donation campaign that began last May, those of the City Council and the sponsors (MEDKON Iberia, Jardins Moliner, Tinta Negra Tattoo, Canseco Cerámicas, Pizzería Cristal, Herten, Aluframe, AXA-BR Asociados, Happy Hinchables, Distribuciones Ribes, Pinturas Franch, Centro óptica auditorivo Aida Sifre, Burrifornia, 440 Música&arte, Vila grow, Panadería Mia, Sin fama Tattoo, StBarber Studios, Nomepierdoniuna, Lollypop Robot, Asador Torrehermosa, Recute imprenta, Frutería Isla Capricho, Ohana Pizza, Papelería-Llibreria Llig and Canós Impressors) as well as drinks and donations during the event.
The event was divided into two parts. On the one hand, the best fighter was chosen – Gerard García from Valencia – who won the 1st Vila-real Cup representing the Morrofins club and, on the other, after a final battle between a fighter who played the role of Limb-girdle Muscular Dystrophy 1F/D2 and another in the role of science and research – the latter won – the trophy was awarded to the most supportive club, that is, the one that had contributed the most funds to our cause: Morrofins with 475 euros, followed by El Bajocó with 350 and La Merla (319). In total, the 9 participating clubs (in addition to the three mentioned above, Borratxo l’Últim, Desori, Penya Rekords, Sarau, Desbarat and Picú) raised 1,625 euros.
The show has left a good impression on the public, nearly 300 people of all ages, who in many cases have attended an event of this nature for the first time.
From Conquistando Escalones we want to thank the efforts of the members of Tyris Wrestling who made the event possible not only for the fights, the part of the work visible to the public, but also for the work of setting up and dismantling the show.
See you next time!
